GENERAL NOTES

The threshold used in such a variable may vary from one dataset to another. The variable's universe will denote the threshold used in each country.

Some of the reasons reported are called "involuntary reasons." They can be used with the criterion of usually working for hours below a certain threshold to define the "visible underemployment."


COUNTRY SPECIFIC NOTES

Following the ILO definition, actual working hours reported were used to generate the two harmonized variables indicating the number of hours usually worked and the reason for which the individual has worked less than 35 hours.
