ACSS Dataverse

The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is a regional, independent, non-profit organization based in Beirut with the goal of strengthening social science research and scholarship in the Arab region. It works to support the production and dissemination of high-quality social science research, the formation of communities of researchers, as well the provision of a platform for networking and scholarly exchange among social scientists in the region. In 2019, the Council established the ACSS Dataverse, an interdisciplinary open-access repository that is available to both individuals and institutions, in order to provide data sharing infrastructure for the long-term preservation and facilitation of access to social science research data on/in the region. The ACSS Dataverse is part of the Arab Public Data Initiative that aims to promote the norm and practices of social science research data preservation and sharing among social scientists and research institutions in the region. The initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and, as of January 2023, the University of Oxford.
